Seasons of Awakening Eden

A living seasonal journal from the land, the garden, the workshops and our unfolding regenerative journey through Portugal.

We just watched Water Is Love

Hey beautiful people, we just watched Water Is Love: Ripples of Regeneration, and it speaks from and to our hearts.

The film follows young people and water protectors exploring how communities can restore water cycles through regenerative ecosystem design. It brings together stories from Portugal, India and Kenya, and points toward a simple but profound remembrance: water does not only need to be extracted, controlled or drained away. Water can be welcomed home.

What touched us deeply was the way the film shows water retention landscaping: shaping land so rain can slow down, spread out and sink in. Ponds, swales, terraces, check dams, planted edges, soil cover and living roots all become part of one great sponge. Instead of rushing away, water is invited to rest in the landscape, recharge the soil and return life to dry places.

We especially loved seeing the work connected to Tamera in Portugal and the inspiring Indian water restoration movement around Rajendra Singh, often known as the Waterman of India. These stories remind us that regeneration is not abstract. It is people, shovels, community, patience, trees, ponds, catchments, songs, mistakes and many small choices repeated with love.

And yes, biology matters. Trees and plants are not decorations around water systems. They are living participants in the water cycle. Through shade, roots, soil life and transpiration, vegetation helps cool landscapes, feed clouds, protect soil moisture and create the conditions for more life.

Our invitation: watch the film, then walk your land or neighbourhood and ask: where is water running away too fast? Where could we slow it, shade it, sink it, store it, clean it, celebrate it?

Our new chapter

A chapter in the Serra da Estrela

After two deeply transformative and challenging years in Portugal, we spent a chapter in the Serra da Estrela at Casa Oasis / Zero Point. The land, people and experience became part of our learning and helped clarify what Awakening Eden wanted to become. That chapter is now complete; Awakening Eden continues independently as a Living Library, regenerative land practice, community and growing network for positive action.

We will share more of this unfolding vision as it grows. Follow our journey, join our channels, reach out if you have questions, share the page with friends, and leave us feedback as this living library for positive change continues to grow.

Building the Javali Fence

Javali means wild boar in Portuguese. This month we are building a protective fence around our garden area to keep the local wild boar from entering the growing space.

It is a practical and important step: caring for what we are planting while respecting the wild forest around us. Regeneration often looks like small, grounded actions — posts in the earth, wire held with care, gates that protect young life, and hands working together under the mountain sky.

Regeneration 101 Workshop

We are planning an online Regeneration 101 workshop for anyone who wants to begin regenerating soil, water, plants, food systems and community from wherever they are.

The intention is simple: practical knowledge, loving guidance, and clear first steps that help people move from inspiration into action.

Syntropic Regeneration Course

We are creating a course on syntropy, regeneration, food forests and restoring Mediterranean landscapes. This will gather Benjy's years of learning into something clear, useful and accessible.

Our vision is to help more people understand how to design living systems that build soil, grow food, increase biodiversity and bring beauty back to the land.

Coming soon

Hands-in-the-Soil Workshops

We are preparing land-based workshops and presentations where learning happens directly through experience — hands in the soil, hearts connected, community gathered, and the land as teacher.
